Job Title: Deputy Sheriff
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for uniformed patrol deputy positions. We desire candidates who are looking for a career position and want to be part of a team approach to serving our communities.
Lyon County is located in Western Kentucky on the Northern shore of Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. We are the gateway to the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area which encompasses over 171,000 acres and hosts 2 million visitors per year. We are 30 minutes from Paducah, 2.5 hours from Louisville, 1.5 hours from Nashville and 2.75 hours from St. Louis. We have two major interstates in our county (I-24 East/West & I-69 North/South); thus, we have thousands of people who traverse our
communities on a daily basis.
As a small agency, our deputies pride themselves on keeping our community a welcoming and safe place for our citizens and tourists alike. We employ patrol deputies, school resource officers, court security officers, and administrative personnel. Our team serves our citizens in a professional manner and are encouraged to be proactive as it pertains to the criminal element who steal property and deal in illegal narcotics. Our agency is a local member of a US DOJ funded task force (i.e., Western KY Violent Crimes
Task Force) where we routinely work with multiple federal, state, and local agencies in order to keep our area safe.
